DIMAT's wide-band coupling units fit a wide range of line impedances, and are suitable for phase-to-ground and phase-to-phase coupling. High insulation ensures the complete safety and protection of the users and the Power-Line Carrier (PLC) equipment. - UAM for standard performance - SAM for high performance
The coupling devices, in conjunction with coupling capacitors, allow the transmission of carrier frequency signals and, at the same time, offer an efficient protection against the effects of the power frequency voltage and transient overvoltages for personnel and PLC equipment.
The functions accomplished by UAM and SAM coupling units are: - Tuning of coupling capacitor - Impedance matching between power line and PLC equipment - Draining to earth of power frequency current . Limitation of voltage surges proceeding from the power line - Earthing of the coupling device for protection purposes during maintenance operations.
One coupling unit is used for phase-to-earth coupling. Another coupling unit and a differential transformer is required for phase-to-phase or intercircuit coupling.
