Designed to eliminate transmission and bandwidth bottlenecks, OPD-2 is based on the field-proven OPC-1 platform combined with a voice and data multiplexer. Analog and digital channels can also be combined.
There are two models of the OPD-2 terminal, single-channel and twin-channel, with a range of output powers of 5,20,40 or 80 W P.E.P. OPD-2 single-channel terminals can be equipped with up to six ports, being one of them for data and the others for voice or data, with a transmission speed of up to 28.8 kbit/s.
OPD-2 twin-channel terminals can be equipped with twice the ports of the single channel terminal, with a transmission speed of up to 28.8+28.8 kbit/s., or even with the ports of the single-channel terminal plus one 4 kHz analogue audio channel, for the cases on which digital signals and analogue signals have to be transmitted in the same link.
Upgrade options include a 4-command, built-in teleprotection system.
DIMAT OPD-2 terminals provide a great flexibility to power utilities, as they permit to multiplex voice and data signals using the same bandwidth of analogue Power-Line Carrier systems, as well as transmitting teleprotection signals.
