At its core: a high-performance modem for transmission over high-voltage power lines. Trellis encoding and echo canceller techniques maximize immunity against line noise and reduce bandwidth use.
DIMAT OPD-1 terminals have a gross bit rate of 81 kbit/s, being 79 kbit/s available for the user.
The base configuration of the OPD-1 terminal includes two ports: one for the transmission of synchronous data, capable of working at a maximum speed of 72 kbit/s, and the other for the transmission of asynchronous data at a maximum speed of 14400 bit/so The number of ports available can be increased to a maximum of 11, by using an optional internal multiplexer. This consists of up to three additional modules, each with capacity for up to 3 ports. These ports can be either for speech or data, providing maximum flexibility for each customer.
Upgrade options include a 4-command, built-in teleprotection system that does not reduce the transmission capacity.
Thanks to their exceptional capacity and flexibility, the DIMAT OPD-1 not only support all the most common services of Power-Line Carrier links (telecontrol data, speech and teleprotection signals) with a better use of the frequency spectrum, but also offer new communication possibilities to the power utilities, such as the connection between nodes of packet-switching networks.
